Pros
Excellent Work Culture and administrative team. They show they care about individual eemployees' wellness and satisfaction in addition to performance and contribution. Sound employment policies and practices that protect employees from unfair practices, such as favoritism, and ensure consistent work hours and other fair practices. Regularly perform market analysis to ensure fair pay compared to similar positions state and nationwide. Excellent job security - termination rarely happens unless performance is very poor and employee shows no motivation to improve.
Cons
Many government positions still have lower salaries compared to the private sector. There can be arbitrary gateways on some positions - ie: a position that requires a bachelor's degree won't substitute work experience for education.
