A senior software engineer exemplifies this toxicity, frequently tagging employees in public chats for perceived bugs that, upon further investigation, often turn out to be non-issues. This public shaming is not only unprofessional but also demoralizing. What’s even more egregious is the double standard. While this individual is quick to highlight others' mistakes, they go to great lengths to brush their own issues under the rug. They use private channels and other tactics to avoid accountability, often trying to portray themselves as a hero in the process. This behavior is emblematic of the "10x developer syndrome," where an inflated sense of self-importance leads to a lack of teamwork and a focus on self-aggrandizement rather than collective success. The lack of constructive feedback, mentorship, and clear standards has made it difficult to meet expectations, despite my efforts to grow. The absence of recognition for my progress, including no raise after my first year where I showed demonstrable growth, has been disheartening.
