Pros
The only good thing I have to say is that for such a small office it was actually pretty diverse.
Cons
The physical office: Small, filthy, and completely devoid of any beautifying touches. Even the computers are all ancient. A depressing place to go to work every day and baffling considering its an architecture and design firm.
The people: There is zero camaraderie among the 6-7 employees and no office culture. There were days when literally no one said a word to anyone the entire day, making one wonder why not just work at home. Some staff have been there for decades, others are much younger. Everyone just seems to be counting down the clock until it's time to go home. A soul crushing environment to work in, especially if you are young.
The boss: He's an irascible, verbally abusive old man who really needs to retire. He enjoys yelling at the top of his voice and watching people jump. Almost every day you would hear him yelling at someone in his office, usually for something completely innocuous.
Overall: I disliked every day I had to go in to work. The environment was oppressive and the projects were not interesting. Not only is the owner terrible, but the second in command is so set in her ways and so afraid of losing whatever control she has that she actively resisted moving projects from Autocad into Revit. A moribund office that will strangle any joy you might have for this profession.
