Pros
Work is interesting, city keeps up with technology at a decent pace for government. Great coworkers, family like environment. Health and pension benefits are good. I feel well compensated for the work I do. Very inclusive and diverse work environment. I feel like upper management does try to care about employees' work environment. They've done very well in handling remote work during the pandemic
Cons
City bureaucracy (but that is with any government job). Pay raises could be more frequent. Sometimes city council is disconnected from reality. Management can be micromanagement-types, depending on your chain of command.
