Pros
-- Strong union representation. Union reps who care about the organization and business and know the importance of the workforce. -- High compensation schedule compared to other NYS agencies. -- Good co-workers make it easier to stay. -- Spots of awesome managers (only if they were higher on the pole). -- Retirement benefits make it hard to bail (only a couple of years left)
Cons
-- Executive management does NOT care in the least about the workforce. -- Every new administration (a lot in the last seven years) makes empty promises and tries to force more work on the employees under the guides of 'progress'. -- For an organization that likes to publically tout progressiveness, there isn't a progressive bone in leadership. Upper management refuses to provide for telecommuting or any meaningful life/balance work schedule. -- VERY few career growth opportunities (unless you are a 'yay-sayer'). -- Morale is the bottom of the barrel.
