Pros

The ability to change your schedule every 6 months, free lunch for employees once a month and you get to meet a lot of people.

Cons

HR TELLS THEIR SUPERVISORS TO WRITE FAKE REVIEWS to attract more people to work at Cyracom, but dont be fooled! Read this review before working at Cyracom. I used to work at the Houston Call Center as a Spanish Over The Phone Interpreter or OPI as they call it. Training is about a month and a half long and its pretty intense. Week 1 is on a class room, week 2 (practicum) is on the phone and you’re taking real calls with help of a coach and week 3 and 4 (transition) you’re on your own taking calls from 8am-5pm with the help of a transition speciallist. As an interpreter you will take calls for many services like Hospital visits, Bank calls, Health Insurance and even Disney and 911. Spanish speakers get paid $10 during training and $13 after training. This job has 0 work and life balance, you will taking about 20-30 calls a day and you cant even go to the restroom because that adds up to your shrink. Main reason why I quit because of the policies they have, if you’re absent even though you have an excuse it builds what they call shrink. At the end of each month they will have a monthly discussion with employee about how their performance was during the month if your score was a 3.0 or higher then you’re good to go. If its 2.9 or lower you can literally get fired and they wont tell you of you’re getting fired until the end of your next day shift. Thats why Cyracom is always hiring because people quit or get fired every week. It sounds crazy but if you want to experience this living hell and are desperate for a job then go for it. They hire anyone, even if you’re not a native spanish speaker. The supervisors just sit on their desk and gossip about the other employees all day, some interpreters are really loud and clients get mad because they can hear your neighbor speaking. You only get a 30 minute lunch when your shift can be 9 hours long. Your calls get monitored a lot, if you pass the call its an ME (Meets Expectation) if you fail its a NI (Needs Improvement) and if your Quality score for calls is less than 90% you can get terminated without notice for low performance. Supervisors started doing this thing where they sit next to you and monitor your call and give you feedback right after the call, its very intimidating. Spanish speakers will never get appreciated because they can easily be replaced, which is why other languages get paid $15 or more, supervisors are affraid of the competition they belittle the new people. Theres no room for growing within this company, some of my friends have been there for 5 years and cant get promoted because theres never any opennings. Whenever you need help wirh something, if a supervisor doesnt know the answer to your issue they ask others for help and in the end you get different responses for an answer.

Pros

In all of my professional career, the IT work here is the most laid back I have ever been with. Sadly, the fun was short-lived after we were sold out when the company was acquired by its rival Propio. They laid off the entire IT folks, dismantling this competition, retaining only less than ten from the whole organization. But it was a pleasure while it lasted. Too bad because their folks were easy going and management is mediocre but I learned a lot, plus it was what I needed in my situation, where I had to multitask working while taking care of personal matters, so it was a bonus.

Cons

Nothing really complicates my tenure here except some projects are really slow in implementation, lacking clear requirements and at some point I was shoved into something where there was really no discussion at all about a project and you just have to dig into it but I have experience so it was no sweat for me at all. There was also a point where I heard a lie about a project being complete but when I started working on it I just realized it was not even started at all and the other is not even deployed or existing so there you go I just had to keep silent and work on completing it. Plus Propio conned us by giving us false hope into thinking we get severance pay but it is not really severance pay instead they just tapped into the our state unemployment benefit and made it look like it is a severance pay. Unemployment benefit is not severance pay.
