Pros

The quality of the products and workmanship is generally good. The company was growing until about 2 years ago. Older profitable business is being replaced by low margin business from big box stores after a major national product line pulled its products away from this company

Cons

The owners of the company don't care about their employees and it shows in high turnover. Often management says one thing then goes in another direction completely leaving employees feeling frustrated and burned out. In the busy times you are guaranteed to be working overtime, sometimes out of town for late hours. Sales and production clash over jobs, and installation is caught in the middle or customers are made to suffer. All parts of the organization are not treated fairly and only some are ever held accountable. Reviews if given at all are not done on a timely basis, or the reviews are "low balled". The owners are often verbally abusive toward employees.

It is our policy as owners to allow productive open communication within the organization, therefore, we feel there are some things that need to be addressed in regards to this Anonymous person’s review. I would be shocked if this review was posted by either an active or former employee at Cutting Edge Countertops. As a prospective employee, I would urge you to speak directly with the company and its current employees when seeking references, especially the number of people that have left our company, and returned to employment with us. Online reviews can be, and are often, skewed towards ones personal interests. We indeed have continually grown since our inception in 2006, although at different levels and with different measuring sticks. As our market changes, we must change as well to remain an industry leader. I’m proud to say that our business has never been healthier than it is right now! Our sales and profit levels are climbing well beyond anticipated forecasts and the future is looking very bright. We value our employees efforts, along with the work and craftsmanship they provide in the success of the company every day. Meetings and reviews are an integral part of bridging the communication gap that may sometimes exist between employees and managers. We aim to have monthly meetings with each and every employee on a one-on-one basis when feasible. This provides a direct line of communication for employees to impact their own job satisfaction. Annual reviews provide a recap of the last 12 months performance, as well as achievements towards goals set forth between management and the employee. Regular company meetings with the owners in “State of the Company” meetings directly share valuable information with everyone attending. Q&A sessions allow for employees to ask any business related question directly to ownership. We have taken major steps in bettering communication overall and this will continue to be a focus moving forward. Our business is controlled by our customers, like many businesses are. Our mindset throughout all departments of the company is to do whatever it takes to make the customer happy. Certainly, this leads to disagreements between departments. We try and learn each time this happens and get better. The customer rarely ever suffers as we have a 99.9% on time delivery rate. I may be biased, but I have the closest windshield view of anyone to measure the outlook of our company. It looks good, really good. If you are reading this review because you are interested in being an addition to our team of 70+ employees, contact us and we can explain why we believe that Cutting Edge Countertops, Inc. may be the best move of your career. Pros

Only pro was never forced overtime.

Cons

Awful insurance, can’t get maintenance to fix anything, bipolar bosses, and serious favoritism. If related to or a suck-up to certain people in high places, you can miss as much as you want, screw off as much as you want, and never really be punished for it. Each shift is treated differently. First can do whatever they want, second is expected to make up for it and clean up after them, third just has no supervision whatsoever and due to that usually gets away with whatever they want. Expected to cross-train, not paid for it. No guarantee you get more than a 50 cent raise no matter what you know/can do. The pay is truly a joke. No one can live off of the 18-19 they pay, especially when insulted by them expecting you to learn 2-3 positions but only be paid for one. While folks in supervisory positions are getting bonuses of thousands of dollars. Also, they’ll lay you off and keep lazier/less invested workers when the heads of the company make poor financial decisions. Forklifts onsite unsafe to use. More than half the required tools for the job don’t work correctly and they will not fix them, but it’s your fault if production numbers drop. It’s also somehow your job to make sure the programmers (who are paid significantly more than you) did programs correctly before you run them or else that’s your fault, too. Also, if laid off, you get no warning. No severance package. Just info to apply for $500 a month Cobra medical coverage.
