Pros
During my tenure at the company I was quickly entrusted with a LOT of responsibility, the work was fast paced, interesting and I had the freedom to learn new technologies and come up with my own solutions to problems with a minimum of supervision as long as I got results. My resume went from 1 page to 3 pretty quickly. Co-workers are friendly and workplace is very professional, owner is very kind and approachable and will genuinely listen to any issues you may have. Shop personnel are outstanding, very good at what they do, patient and easy to work with, probably the company's strongest department.
Cons
Amount of responsibilities can become unmanageable quickly and leads to mistakes, which cause more work and a huge amount of stress. ME department lacks highly experienced people so training leaves a lot to be desired, often you will have to teach yourself required knowledge, usually on your own time off of work. Company will continually work with customers who tend to make life very difficult for the engineering staff. Engineer turnover is high, esp. in the ME department. Compensation is far below the industry average.
