Pros

Great benefits, ample vacation time (three weeks to start), mostly awesome co-workers

Cons

Company implements changes that benefit home office workers but make life harder for field people. Field service team members get the short end of the stick when it comes to "three-legged stool teams" with account managers getting less incentive pay than sales reps and PD people getting zero incentive pay. Promotions based on perception/brown-nosing as opposed to actual ability. Most products are truly awesome on their own but company continues to try to sell/market them as good fits for other purposes. Greed has definitely overtaken the company since it was sold to investment firm. It no longer feels like a mission-driven company and the pressure is on to sell, sell, sell.

Thank you for your honest review and for your many years of service. We never want to hear that we're making things harder for our valued employees. As a first step to addressing your concerns, we've shared this review with our leadership team. A bit of background on the recent changes to our ownership structure you referenced: In keeping with our founding commitment to philanthropy, the majority of our shares were recently gifted to charity. This gift resulted in a donation of approximately $200 million, one of the 10 largest gifts by an individual in the United States in 2017. This transaction included partnership with a firm committed to our long-term success and to expanding our support to more and more classrooms. The result has been a win-win—we gained world-class, mission-aligned business partners, and deserving charities gained funding to improve outcomes for the communities they serve. Throughout this process, we remained committed to transparency with our employees. Leadership distributed monthly written updates and presented quarterly updates at company-wide meetings, and our CEO encouraged all employees to ask him questions directly or submit anonymously via a questions box. Our team is the same, our commitment to quality is the same, and our founding mission to make classrooms better places for teachers and children is stronger than ever. - Shrina

Pros

Before working at Curriculum Associates, I was an elementary teacher using i-Ready in my classroom for both reading and math. It was such an important resource to me... so much so that I actually remember Googling "how to work for i-Ready" because I wanted to learn more about the company behind it! That eventually led me to the EdTech Fellowship, which gave me the chance to see the corporate side of education after only really knowing the classroom side. I really enjoyed the fellowship and knew pretty quickly that I wanted to stay at CA if there was ever an opportunity. I’ve now been here for almost two years and have had the unique experience of being in the fellowship, a temporary role, and now a full-time role. I’ve truly had a great experience in each stage and have felt supported as I’ve continued to grow and learn. One thing I really appreciate about CA is how mission-aligned people are. As someone who has been both a teacher using the product and now an employee working behind the scenes, I can say that people here care about supporting teachers and students. That shared purpose makes the work feel meaningful and makes it easy to feel connected to the people around you!!

Cons

The transition from teaching into the corporate world can come with a learning curve (which I think the Ed Tech Fellowship really helped with!)

Thank you so much for sharing this. It’s especially meaningful to hear from someone who first experienced i-Ready in the classroom and later joined the team through the EdTech Fellowship. We’re so glad to hear you’ve felt supported throughout each stage of your journey at Curriculum Associates. Knowing that the mission and care for teachers and students has felt genuine both inside and outside the classroom means a lot to us. We also appreciate you mentioning the transition from teaching into the corporate world. That shift can definitely come with a learning curve, and we’re glad the fellowship helped make it feel more approachable. Thank you again for sharing your experience and for being part of the team!

Pros

Made alot of money and very food benefits.

Cons

15 hour days. No support at all. Managers are the worst people ever because they are worked into the ground. Slave drivers because they experience the same all the way to the CEO who is a slimeball. If you want a career where they expect your soul then its a good place. Be ready to travel all the time, all the time. I worked 7 days a week non stop, they finally let me go because my production and ability to do the job just dwindled. It literally took the life from my soul. Other than those things, it was great.
