No room for growth. People have been both voluntarily and involuntarily leaving the company, but I think the telling part is that there have been NO backfills, at least on the engineering side.
Culture and People Ops have gone corporate. When I joined, this was not the case, and as a result the culture was something everyone really enjoyed. And maybe it's just the reality of a growing company, but I think a lot of the negative reviews lately are a result of the frustration in losing most of what made the company special. When People Ops' response to complaints is "well, you don't have to work here," they might be right, but that attitude is kind of where the culture is at now.
Lack of product vision. Other reviews alluded to it, but it's just been a lot of thrash and not a lot of success or sticking to a vision we believe in. It's hard to say what the company's real mission is anymore. I DO believe they have a good play here, in the space between data and machine learning, but until they start having success in that space it just feels like we're stuck.
I know that's a bunch more "cons," but the truth is that these together do not, in my opinion, make Crunchbase a 1 star company. I think they need to do better, but you can find a lot of worse companies out there. Crunchbase is just in a hard spot and crossroads right now. I hope leadership can make the right calls, even if/when they're unpopular, and navigate this ship out of these rough waters.
