Could Be a Great Place to Work... But It's Not - Program Manager Creative Community Living Services Employee Review

Pros

-The disabled clients you work with are usually a joy to be around. Some have more severe issues than others, but all in all, they are the best part of working for this company. -Decent training -Most of the direct caregivers try their hardest & really do care about the clients -Decent PTO accrual schedule (vacation, sick, holiday, birthday)

Cons

-VERY minimal rewards; in the 3+ years I was there, they gave 2% raises one time to employees... But only if they had been there for more than 2 years -Which wasn't very many people since the turnover is so ridiculously high within this company -Responsible for finding someone to cover your shifts if you're sick, even if you have sick time PTO accrued -Managers are super write-up happy; they'll get a report of something an employee did wrong, write a write up, call the employee in to ream them out, THEN ask for their side of the story -They overwork their program managers (hourly) while the program directors (salary) work 6 hour days and don't bother answering their phones when they're needed... Talking 80 hour work weeks with 16-24 hour long shifts -Recently had a lot of programs close and at least a dozen people lost their jobs -They treat everyone like they're replaceable (which they technically are) and very rarely truly reward the best employees; residential coordinators bend over backwards for their managers and instead of being rewarded, they're asked to bend over just a little more -Crappy schedules for full time residential coordinators... Most companies like this offer rotating weekends, but a lot of the full time RCs are working weekend shifts every week since they need full time hours (due to being underpaid) -Upper management is basically absent and PDs make crap up as they go along and have no one to answer to 98% of the time -Most RCs have a set schedule, but when training classes come up, they HAVE to go to them even if they have plans or it conflicts with their schedule. Don't make someone who stayed up for a 10pm-8am shift attend a 10am-2pm training! That's just rude

Pros

I enjoyed this position immensely, if I still lived in Madison, Wisconsin I would more than likely still be with them. The clients and my director were great.

Cons

Hard to find good quality staff that will actually work and be a good influence on the client.
