Pros
Everyone excluding the owner is nice.
Cons
The owner does the following to his employees:
- frequent angry outbursts
- will call you and your family outside of normal working hours for work purposes
- doesn't follow up on his promises to his employees (he promised to talk about a raise after I started but it never happened)
- cheated me out of thousands of dollars in 401k funds, this is a case that is actively being pursued by the Department of Labor and the IRS
- cutting major corners to provide what is ultimately a very poorly put-together product (the codebase is running on ancient versions of all tech it employs - which is a major security hazard considering all the personal information his apps store on people)
- rambles incessantly for over an hour every day for the "daily standup" during which he trash talks people he does business with and goes over every conversation he has had over the previous 24 hours regardless of whether it's relevant to the employees on the call
- promises a monthly healthcare stipend instead of paying for your insurance, but he sends it via snail mail and absolutely refuses to send it until you ask him about it at least two or three times, and even then he acts like you're inconveniencing him (and god forbid you ask for a pay stub)
If you do end up working for him despite these warnings, make sure you get from him in writing every thing he promises to you because he has no qualms about making false promises to get what he wants from you in the moment. Oh and make sure you back it all up to your personal computer instead of any account he can control because he WILL delete your accounts if he thinks you'll use any of this against him (I should know, he did exactly that to me but didn't realize I had all this backed up to my personal computer which is why it's being pursued by the DoL now).
