Pros

Health insurance after 90 days. Lots of hours available to work if the job is behind which with this company it usually is.

Cons

No work life balance They don't do pay rates correctly on prevailing wage jobs for carpenters. They try to not pay carpenter rate all the time and pay labor rate for some hours even if you were not doing laborer work. They have you work 12-14 hours straight on a concrete pour and instead of having people who were doing minimal labor during the pour example washing truck wheels and directing traffic they have the guys doing the placement of concrete have to stay to finish up all the housekeeping. Very bad management. They also do not pay correct rates when you operate equipment or tie rebar. Pretend to care about safety only when important people are on site. They do not have a foreman for crews so there is no real direction for the craft workers.

Costello Construction Response

Thank you for your review of Costello Construction. All feedback both positive or critical is good to receive so that we have an opportunity to address the issues raised. Costello Construction pays prevailing wages at required job sites based on the work performed by our employees on a 15 minute basis. This information is tracked and reported at the field level and reported to our payroll office so that employees can be paid the proper wages for work performed. If employees find discrepencies in this reporting they should immediately bring it to the attention of their supervisor who can research and if necessary rectify the error. As we are a busy company we are fortunate enough to be able to offer our team ample hours both regular and overtime. This is something that much of our team appreciate however if employees are unable to work overtime they should notify their Superintendent or Human Resources. At Costello Contruction we take Safety very seriously and in fact have a dedicated company Safety Site and Health Officer who evaluates our team training and site safety compliance. Additionally, we direct our team to "speak up" if they witness a safety violation so that we can immediately address and rectify the issue. As an employee of Costello Construction you have an experienced management team onsite and in our corporate office to assist you, we encourage our team to have open lines of communication with them so they can address concerns and issues in a timely fashion. We wish you the best in your future endeavors

Pros

Costello Construction is a hard working company. They self perform over 30% of their work which means there is a lot of action. The comradery and team work is un matched with other companies. You truly feel like a team working together towards a greater goal. The majority of their buildings are complex and very architecturally pleasing drawings. No job is the same as the one before. Also, the benefits and salary are very generous as well. There is a ton of room to grow and be successful in the company. There truly feels like there is no ceiling.

Cons

Sometimes longer hours are needed depending on the phase of the project.

Pros

From my very first interaction with Costello Construction two years prior to starting my position, I was left with an incredibly positive impression. I was struck by how deeply the company values community, not just in the projects it takes on, but also in how it treats people. As a family-owned and operated business, there’s a real sense of pride in what they do, and it shows in every detail, from community centers and senior housing developments to their thoughtfully run hotel, where I had a wonderful experience of being involved through my previous position before even joining the team. On my first day, I was welcomed with a team lunch and provided with a clear list of tasks, logins, and expectations, which made the transition smooth and stress-free. Located on the Columbia Lakefront, the office is bright and inspiring, with water views and lots of natural light. The company also provides great health insurance and provides all the tools and programs needed to succeed. If you’re looking to be a part of a mission-driven team where people are kind and committed to meaningful work, Costello Construction is a company where you can truly feel proud of what you’re helping build.

Cons

Truly a positive experience! Nothing negative to note at this time.
