Pros

Low crime, very small town in the middle of nowhere unfortunately controlled by single large employer which can actually be a disastrous. 80% of the positions posted publicly are already filled up by internal candidates. Public postings are just the mock up to fulfill the requirements.

Cons

Everything is upside down, very "clicky", promotion based on how much you "like" your bosses and based on race and gender. American company with old style management. If you are non-american they tag you on your badge by the BLUE GLOBE which means you have no access to any databases, no access to research resources and they treat you unequally and with disrespect. You are not by definition part of the pack. You will have to proof yourself for 5-10 years before you get promotions even if you outperform every single year. Middle management absolutely useless, not helpful, very bureaucratic, creating just obstacles. Innovation is stacked for years, people don't trust each others, don't share any ideas b/c on the invention discloser (ID) committee are sitting US citizen only fellows having absolute power and control. They distribute submitted ideas to their own supporters, palls and friends and resubmitted with their names. Many sr. scientists and associates and fellows haven't been in labs for years or never been in labs at all and yet having hundreds of patents, IDs and publications. Stealing was elevated into a first principle. People don't collaborate, they just compete between each other. Due to small town attitude, there is a lot of gossiping, politics and backstabbing. Not motivating at all. 95% folks go to work for just the paychecks.
