Pros
Pay can be decent depending on the runs you are given
Cons
1. Terrible management who are rude and belittling, but due to internal bureaucracy is never held accountable for their mistreatment of drivers. Drivers are constantly resigning due to the treatment they receive from them. They are intimidating, and with no real life experience of a drivers role, utterly useless. They use childish power plays to demean the drivers they manages. Since they have joined, there is a constant flow of drivers resigning, due to the constant stress and abuse they receive from them. 2. Favouritism is massive at this branch. If you are favoured by management you will receive the best runs. The favoured are generally the top performers at the time. As soon as a driver has a run that they struggle with due to various reasons out of their control, they are then continuously given terrible jobs as punishment. 3. You are just a number. This is a very prominent culture at this branch, the treatment you receive is appalling and the support is non-existent. When you apply for this role you are told you are just recovering crashed cars and insurance write offs - whilst that may be partially true, they decline to mention that you will also be collecting cars from police impounds that have been in major fat*l accidents, and at times there are remnants left behind (bl**d, personal belongings of the d*ceased such as shoes crushed in footwell etc). As you can imagine this is extremely traumatic, and you receive no support for this. The mental health procedures they have in place is abysmal and the assigned officer is intimidating, and so drivers have no one to turn to during tough times. For such a large corporation, you would expect they would have better mental health procedures in place. But it couldn’t be more the opposite. 4. Although you don’t sign a waiver to your 48hour contractual rights, you will be worked over this time regularly (you don’t receive overtime etc as you are paid around £9 pe car you collect on top of your salaried amount ). 5. High stress job, and many leave as whilst pay can be good (some months), it is not worth it. It takes over your whole life.
