Pros

The team is young but very sharp. It is a pleasure working with talented people. It is definitely a classic fast-paced startup environment, which is a very helpful learning experience. Client-facing projects are typically very interesting, and the community of experts and facilitators are nothing short of wonderful to work with.

Cons

The CEO has blatant anger problems which come out in the form of very unprofessional outbursts directed at his team members. As another reviewer mentioned, he quite literally throws temper tantrums. He is very manipulative, especially towards younger employees that may not know any better. As far as the business, processes seem to pivot weekly, leaving both employees and clients annoyed and unimpressed. While the initial model is great and has the potential to be viable, it surely will not be if the company continues on a path of such severe mismanagement. The turnover rate of employees is also exceptionally high which is a major red flag. Employees are expected to be on call 24/7, which is not necessarily unusual for a startup, but absolutely inappropriate in a case like this where the CEO does not treat employees with the same amount of respect and professionalism that is expected of them.

Pros

I oversee HR for Convetit, which gives me some unique insights that may help give a more comprehensive view of the company. The company’s diverse team has been growing quickly to meet the demand for the innovative products that they offer. When making new hires and considering promotions, the management team count personal drive and growth among their primary considerations. In my experience, the team is motivated and hard-working. Encouraging team members to take charge of their role and meet their potential is certainly a part of the Convetit culture. Tom, the CEO, takes a proactive role supporting the group with team building activities and daily “stand-up” meetings where company plans are shared with the entire team and dialogue is encouraged. Among the best perks for Convetit employees is the group health care plan. It includes medical, dental, and vision insurance and the company covers 80% of premiums to help ensure that its an affordable option for all employees. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ Full-Time Employees/Contractors Total Hired: 31 Current: 16 Total Terminated/Resigned: 15 Total Percent Women: 38.7% Total Percent Minority: 35.48% 5-Month Terminations/Resignations: 2 Total Formal HR Complaints: 0

Cons

This beginning, fast-growth phase has been a time for the company to learn what works and what doesn’t. This did lead to more resignations and terminations, initially . However, as Convetit evolves and the culture becomes better defined, the management team seems to have a better understanding of what works for the company and the turnover rate continues to decrease - a positive change for the company.
