Good Money, Don't recommend it. - Reactor Engineer Constellation Energy Employee Review

Pros

Good pay. Decent immediate coworkers to talk to.

Cons

Lets get one thing straight when working at a generating site. You are not a human, you are a robot. You will keep the plants operating at full functionality at all times. Your well-being and private life come second. You will work extreme hours and be expected to be perfect at all times. If you ever make a mistake, upper management will make sure you and everyone who knows you learns about it. Dissenting opinions are not allowed. This is already enough to not recommend any of the nuclear generating sites, however there is more. These sites are old, most have been operating for decades. The equipment inside these plants is failing at an increasing rate. The company WILL NOT use money to fix these components and instead expect the workers to compensate for these issues. They will buy the cheapest equipment possible and when it breaks you will pay for it. Constellation has no intention in making sure nuclear stays a viable energy source. They will run these plants until something major happens where they are unwilling to pay the money to fix it.

Pros

Working at Constellation has been an incredibly positive experience. The leadership team genuinely values employee feedback and creates an environment where everyone feels heard, respected, and supported. Collaboration is encouraged across all levels, and new ideas and insights are welcomed with openness and appreciation. As a Project Manager, I’ve experienced strong teamwork, professional respect, and a culture where colleagues are always willing to help one another succeed. The company truly fosters growth, innovation, and a positive work environment that makes employees feel valued every day.

Cons

I don't have any cons at the moment.

Pros

Coworkers are all intelligent and overall good people to spend 12hrs a day with.

Cons

The department is perpetually understaffed. You’ll never actually work an 8hr shift, because no one is dumb enough to vote for that schedule. There’s not enough operators to fill the schedule without being forced all the time for 16hr shifts. Be prepared to be forced for OT on a regular basis even with a 12hr schedule. If your family is important, then this probably is not a good long-term plan. You’re going to miss sports, holidays, birthdays, anniversaries, weddings, etc. You live at work and home is a place you sleep. The company might advertise company holidays, but that just means you get paid a little more for being here on those days.
