Pros
I learned so much about myself and the community I served. I developed a passion for working with youth that are overlooked a cast aside. I became aware of the need to have positive black role models working with our youth.
Cons
The management in the Emotional Support Program has not changed in years, this is not normal. Many of the managers are complacent and there aren't any checks and balances as they have all become a colt. I know they are passionate but most of them lack the drive to execute. They continue to use old tactic to govern the youth they serve and continuously fail. I have witnessed several of the children in this program loose their lives and some hauled off to jail. This is an unsuccessful program because of the managements lack of knowledge. There are great team members that have walked through the doors of CCMHMR, some have stayed and others left. If management would have a clear vision and are able to covey it to the staff this program could help more than it hurts. Just because they are able to obtain contracts doesn't prove the success of he program when they are able to prove there ability to move children out of ES opposed to keeping them for years then they would have proven success.
