Common Seas is an organisation filled with inspirational colleagues who are experts in their field and have shaped programmes that contribute towards an important mission. There is a genuine passion for the cause and a deep care for the ocean across the organisation that adds to the drive to succeed. I have experienced some career highlights in my role, working with fantastic partners to build a programme that I truly believe has the capacity to inspire action. During my time here, I have been encouraged and supported to grow professionally whilst maintaining a healthy work/life balance. Common Seas is still a relatively new organisation that has grown very quickly and is learning along the way. The CEO cares deeply about every project, contributing and collaborating across them all. However, as the projects are all broad in their approaches, audiences, and stages of development, this isn't always practical and can at times lead to confusion and frustration for project teams.

This is a great place to work for the right people. A dedicated and committed core of people, passionate about the mission. A CEO who is genuine about driving impact and working to improve performance and culture for all. A small team with a very broad reach and network - meaning great opportunities for learning and development, including mentoring by senior advisors and the wider group of contacts and organisations that Common Seas works with and the CEO collects through her inspiring and dynamic persona. Salaries and benefits are fair, and there is hybrid working with a good deal of flexibility.

Common Seas can be a very rewarding and exciting place, operating with a start-up mindset. The way the organisation adapts, grows, and develops can provide a lot of responsibility and freedom for individuals, but the entrepreneurial approach does not suit all, and within a small team it is a shame that one or 2 negative individuals can impact onto others.
