Pros
The CommScope Emerging Leadership Program (ELP) program is designed to give our senior leaders a vehicle for advancement. Facilitated by the University of North Carolina (UNC), the heart of the program is the action learning project. Spanning approximately six months, our cross functional team had to tackle a reel life CommScope business issue and then present the findings to the CommScope senior Executive team. The program was an excellent leaning opportunity that brought all the participants outside of their respective comfort zones. Another key aspect was our individual executive mentors, great support and friendships were formed here that will remain far beyond the ELP conclusion. Finally the commitment shown by the CommScope senior executives was extraordinary, not only by resourcing the program but also by their active participation throughout.
Cons
The program did add to the time pressures to my already busy schedule, but that is to be expected; and who is not busy anyway!
