Pros

Outstanding benefits and leadership who truly cares about employees (whether some employees believe it or not; you cannot please everyone). Always seeking ways to improve the work environment and strengthen the collaborations among employees and departments.

Cons

Like most government entities, Colusa County is busy trying to bring their workplace into the current year (government operates 5-20+ years behind, due to all the bureaucratic red tape [slow processes due to outdated codes/policies, poorly times & unfunded state mandates forcing focus on items where other items should be the priority, etc.]). Also, fiscal limitations don't allow for doing everything that we would like to do for our dedicated and hard-working employees.

Pros

Average Government Pension and Benefits

Cons

Medical insurance is too expensive. Pension was just reformed, so it's not that great for new hires. The pension is the only thing keeping most of the long-term employees there, and the rest of the group experiences a high turnover rate. The leadership is not concerned with morale or professionalism or hiring and keeping good quality professionals. The small rural town is boring and full of less than ethical people. The employer is not forward thinking and there is really no room for career growth.
