Cons

I worked at Colt Builders for about two years, and unfortunately, my experience was overwhelmingly negative due to a toxic working environment. Some of the major issues I encountered during my time there: Toxic Environment and Bullying: The workplace culture was extremely toxic, where bullying was not only accepted but seemed to be encouraged by the higher-ups. The controller, in particular, thrived on creating a hostile environment where she would pull certain employees into her office to gossip and talk negatively about those she didn't like personally no matter how they performed their duties. Employees who were not part of the inner circle faced constant bullying, making it difficult to perform our jobs effectively. Age Discrimination: There was a clear pattern of age discrimination within the company. Every office employee over the age of 41 was systematically fired. This blatant ageism created a sense of fear and insecurity among the staff, especially those who were approaching the age threshold. Discriminatory Hiring Practices: The company’s hiring practices were discriminatory, favoring certain demographics and excluding others based on non-meritocratic criteria. This led to a lack of diversity and perpetuated a homogeneous and exclusive culture. Clique Mentality: If you weren’t part of the controller's favored group, you were subjected to exclusion and targeted harassment. This clique mentality created an environment where collaboration and teamwork were impossible, as employees were pitted against each other. Unprofessional Management: The management’s behavior was unprofessional and unethical. They ignored reports of bullying and discrimination, and in some cases, seemed to support these negative behaviors. This lack of accountability from leadership exacerbated the toxic atmosphere. Overall, working at Colt Builders was a deeply distressing experience and I am obtaining legal advice and counsel. The pervasive bullying, discrimination, and unethical management practices made it impossible to thrive or feel secure in my role. I would caution potential employees to be aware of these serious issues before considering employment with this company.
