Pros
it's a job, and my paycheck never bounced.
Cons
The problem with Cologix is that Cologix doesn't really exist to operate data centers, it's purpose is to buy and build data centers as an investment vehicle for the hedge fund that owns Cologix. Things like properly operating the data centers, taking care of the customers in the data centers, or not driving employees insane with overwork aren't a priority, because there is seemingly infinite demand for the interconnection-focused data center space, and a corresponding demand from the investors to grow the company. The end result is a company that is very good at acquiring data centers and never telling the sales department "no", but very bad to work for (unless you're in the sales department). The toll working at Cologix took on my mental health was grim. looking back, I consider myself lucky for getting out when I did, because things were worse than I realized while I was there. Cologix has "unlimited" PTO, which really means you have no PTO because you're always too busy to take it. And the CEO used to pat himself on the back for giving us all "mental health days" during the pandemic, but nobody I knew ever took them because we were all too busy. To be fair, I think management actually thought they were doing a good job looking out for their employees' mental health, so it's not like they didn't care, they were just out of touch.
