Pros

I started my career here and had some great experience with the projects I worked on. Cognizant is a standard consultancy and being able to experience different verticals and domains helped me understand what I enjoyed working on and how to apply my technical knowledge in different industries. Cognizant also provided tools for developers like me to upskill myself and build more skills to add to my skill set.

Cons

I joined during the start of covid 19. This caused a lot of issues in terms of feeling connected with the company. There was a lack of communication from hiring managers for projects, especially during holiday season. This causes issues because if an employees contract with one project ends they have 5 weeks to look for a new project. If your project ends during or around holiday season it makes it difficult to find new ones when the direct line to the next project is not responding. A lot of the issues of communication were results of a lack of some structure in dealing with remote employment caused by the pandemic and the ability to either support rolling the employees into in person if necessary or continuing to develop the ability to work remotely.

Pros

Cognizant can be a great place to work at. You have to be self-motivated and driven. You won't often be given a script on how to do your job well. But if you are willing to search for new opportunities, you will find success.

Cons

Just like many other tech companies, layoffs are happening all the time. This often brings many projects to a complete halt. Management never communicates when someone is laid off. And when they are laid off, they often never back fill positions, leaving existing team members working the equivalent of three jobs at once. Most teams there are skeleton crews, ensuring that they cannot reach their full potential.
