Pros
The new leadership takes a very bottom-up approach to management that focuses on people's individual strengths and contributions. If allowed to flourish by the Board of Directors, the new leadership promises and is already implementing changes that will have a positive impact not only on employees but for those the agency serves. The staff is the heart of the agency. There are people who have been here for years that put their heart and soul into what they do. The impact they make in the greater community is priceless. Having said that, the agency has suffered in the past in part because of changes in leadership. This resulted in a lack of a cohesive vision. It was not until two years ago that the Board hired someone to "straighten the ship." While things improved, leadership has changed hands again, and the current leadership team is committed to making sweeping improvements that will improve outcomes and staff morale. On a staffing level, the dynamic has changed, and the staff is now encouraged to participate in meetings and offer new ideas without judgement. Pay scales just recently have been improved, and bonuses were given out. The agency has a long way to go, but there is now a strategic plan and vision to move it forward, along with a leadership team who sees a challenge as an opportunity. I would encourage anyone who has new ideas and who is excited about making a difference in the quality of behavioral and IDD healthcare to apply for a job. The current state of the agency is not the same as the reviews in past years.
Cons
The agency is in a number of different locations, which sometimes makes it feel a bit siloed. The pandemic inhibited some of the interaction that typically took place prior to COVID. The agency's technology needs to be upgraded. The agency's Board of Directors need to embrace the vision that the new leadership and staff have for the agency in order to move the agency forward.
