Pros

Decent pay for lack of experience needed Colleagues are cool for the most part Good introduction into CRE

Cons

Environment/culture is non existent No morale or excitement to work here Micro management is perfected here. Had a manager force team to write a break down of a full work day into 15 min sections. Wanted to know what we were doing at all times. Never enough time to get everything you need to get done done. They just pile more and more on the people that actually decided to stay with company. High turnover. Not a place to work and retire. Lacks diversity. Give half hearted effort to have diversity program, it’s just for show I believe. Minority staff is overlooked and not known by name. Upper management treat this company like a country club, great for them not for us. Lack of upward mobility. CEO makes cringeworthy jokes during meetings that shows a clear lack of understanding for employees. Took away all incentives to work hard, no bonuses. Metrics are heavily used however are changed every 6 months, no consistency. Each team is operated differently depending who your manager is. So hope you have a half way decent one otherwise your time here could be trechorous. PTO time is not ideal unless you have already been working with company 3+ years. I have nothing but conversations with coworkers about how bad it is here, a way to bond I guess. Only reason I am still here is because of pandemic. 50% of employees have quit since then and the ones who stayed were not rewarded w bonuses or more time off or anything honestly. Just asked to do 2-3x the amount of work as before. Understaffed and under paid to do as much as we do. A typical 8 hour day includes making 50 + phone calls, researching sale comps, lease comps, construction events, managing listings, writing news articles, finding ownership, welcome calls, conducting training plus 2-3 projects per week. Unrealistic amount of work. So happy for everyone who has left and found happiness in their next employer. They are forcing employees to get vaccinated otherwise they threaten to fire them are they refuse to allow remote working even tho we have done it for the last 15 months. Production is the exact same. Discourages you to follow your personal or religious beliefs saying “Costar is not a place for unvaccinated people”. Big powerful company that steps on its own people as long as Andy and upper management’s bug dollars keep rolling in.

401k, medical benefits snacks decent base salary

Cons

Working at CoStar Group was one of the most emotionally exhausting sales environments I’ve experienced. The culture on my team was extremely male-dominated, hyper-competitive, and very much “sink or swim.” Collaboration was talked about constantly by management, but in reality the environment rewarded internal competition, territorial behavior, favoritism, and politics over actual teamwork. As one of the few women on the sales team, I often felt isolated and unsupported. Instead of mentorship or coaching, the expectation was basically: “figure it out yourself.” New hires were thrown into difficult situations with inconsistent training and unrealistic expectations, while certain reps appeared to receive stronger books of business, better territories, or more support than others. It created resentment and a toxic atmosphere where coworkers often felt more like competitors waiting for you to fail than teammates. The turnover was incredibly high, which should have been a red flag. Management pushed aggressive quotas and nonstop pressure while failing to address morale, burnout, or fairness concerns. There was also an unhealthy obsession with leaderboard culture and internal politics that made the workplace feel stressful every single day. What disappointed me most was that I genuinely believed in the product and enjoyed helping clients. Many customers loved working with me, and I built strong relationships. But internally, the environment became mentally draining. The constant competitiveness, lack of support, and toxic culture eventually outweighed the positives of the role.
