CoSentry is a technology company. From the highest level of leadership to the talent that we have on the front lines... We all know we are a technology company and making the right investments in the right technologies is a mantra that is constantly repeated. Clients put the life of their business in our protection and the investment we make in our people and in our data centers is truly visible. There is very little overhead at CoSentry and political red tape between the technical resource and the resolution is very minimum. We do have controls in place but at the level to ensure we have control and visibility in all we do. There is no paper work or unnecessary processes in place for the sack of having paper work or unnecessary processes. CoSentry is very streamline and very efficient in what they do and how they support each individual client. If you are a strong technical resource looking for a company to test and expand your technical capabilities then CoSentry with fit the bill perfectly. Being at CoSentry allowed me to architect, manage, and maintain the latest equipment in Service Provider technologies that I wouldn’t have gotten the opportunity elsewhere.
Cons
We are in the service provider business. This business deals individually with clients that have unique interests, goals, and concerns. When we have a great day the clients recognize that we are just doing our jobs. If something hits the fan some clients can be "aggressive" and client emotions can run high… and at the end of the day that is very understandable. We are supporting and protecting the life of their business. If something impacts their business we will always hear about it from them. This type of environment can break some people. However, this is not the norm at CoSentry… It is definitely rare but it does happen. We are in the technology business… Technology at time does have an occasional hiccup now and then and human error will always exists everywhere there are humans….
Pros
It's a paycheck. That's a pro.
Cons
First off, this company is no longer CoSentry. They sold out to a larger company called TierPoint in January, and the merger was completed in March. No word of warning, no rumors, just an overly excited executive announcement email at about 10am, that we employees later found out came after TierPoint announced it on their website and Twitter account. Second, the training at CoSentry/TP sucks. The trainer at this company is a joke who has never taken a call and reads everything straight from the documentation. You learn more on your own and from your coworkers than from him. Everyone refers to training as nap time or extended break time, because he's useless. It's pretty bad when the new employees spend two weeks in training and come out knowing nothing more than how to log into their email, if that. Lastly, management is a joke, what there is of one. They can barely stand each other, the power plays are like a kindergarten stand-off, and the employees pay the price. One manager tells you to do one thing, the other tells you to do another, and wither way you go, you're wrong. Get everything in an email, because more than likely, someone will 'forget' and you'll get written up.
