Pros
Some of the best people in Sacramento work(ed) at Clutch. Skill wise and personality wise. Great time off benefits Remote work is primary (for now) Many other pro's that are now no longer applicable so I won't go into those
Cons
Clutch held so much promise and potential, and I genuinely believe the leadership had good intentions a year ago. But as growth was deprioritized and significant contracts started ending, things began to shift. I often told myself, "There are people smarter than me running this company and making these decisions." Yet, over time, I’ve come to question if that was actually true. The building purchase, for instance, seems to have been a misstep. While the Cal Competes tax credit could have been advantageous, it was unrealistic to expect we’d be able to meet the hiring targets required. Now, with the establishment of the owners’ new overseeing entity, it feels as if it’s becoming a means to safeguard the remaining employees they need for Clutch’s eventual closure. I hope this doesn’t drag their latest acquisition, RSE, down a similar path. The recent layoffs were handled poorly. Worse, people are now being terminated “for cause,” like performance issues, despite having a history of only positive feedback. It’s unfortunate that there’s now a group who call themselves the “People who escaped Anne & Rachel.” I hope future actions reflect the company’s best potential. Please, do better.
