Pros
The mission. I believe the work being done is good and I felt we were accomplishing something. The work. In some positions the work can be very interesting and even fun. Even doing logistics, you have some access to content and exposure to thought leaders. The events. I love the meetings, there's great energy and feeling of purpose.
Cons
The database. I've heard this is changing soon, though that's what they were saying back in 2009, too. Senior management. Most department director don't understand how to manage a team effectively, and there's no real operations leadership to change that. Growth. There's a lot of opportunity to move to another position, especially as people quit, but not a lot of support for learning new skills and developing as a leader within the organization. The energy, other than the events. People are tired and fed up, and it's hard to be around them.
