Pros
- Like at a lot of companies, there are incredibly talented, dedicated folks at Clever. You'll learn a TON from your peers at Clever. Expect to be inspired by them! - Things change quickly, and that creates a lot of opportunity to move around and up. If you're the type of person who wants to take advantage of chances for new titles and new experiences, this is a big plus. - Work hours and schedule are quite flexible. I saw Clever accommodate new moms, international time zones, and lots of different situations. Hours can be long depending on your role, but in a lot of roles, you can work the hours you want to.
Cons
- Constant, intense levels of communication. The Slack never stops in the evenings or over weekends. If you're a person who doesn't have strong personal boundaries around when you look at Slack and how much you expect to communicate with others, the culture can quickly become overwhelming. If you do have great boundaries, expect to assert them constantly. - Direction from leadership can be unclear and confusing. With a relatively flat org and an emphasis on everyone being a leader/driver, there's a lot of convoluted messaging and expectations. - Like most places I've worked, there's a subtle level of sexism. I've seen most female leaders let go, or they leave on their own. Ultimately, women's ideas and strengths are not weighed as heavily in this organization. It's clearly an unconscious bias (and not unique to Clever), but frustrating nonetheless.
