Pros
The other employees make this place worth it, you meet some interesting, really great people. The pay is also pretty good, but it's almost not worth dealing with management.
Cons
Schedules suck, it would be great to have a set schedule, each day having different times in and out gets tiring. Along the same lines, not being able to know and/or choose your days off for the week makes having a life outside of work hard.
You know you've got a problem when employees can't pinpoint exactly why they feel a heavy melancholy when working here. You ask them "why does this place suck? "; the pay is good, the boats look nice, the people you work with are great, it's an overall pretty easy job, and the hours are steady. This place has the potential to be such a great job but management (marine ops) , all of them, are bringing it down to an almost unbearable level. Which leads to high turnover.
People get written up so often or "bonuses" pulled that its harboring an unsafe work environment where employees are afraid to call in issues with boats whether mechanical or self inflicted for fear of unreasonable punishment.
