I worked for at a Cinemark Century 16 Theater for about a year as a part-tim usher/box office associate. - Usher, Cashier, Box Office Associate Cinemark Employee Review

Pros

The best part about this job was probably my coworkers- there were rarely any instances of inner conflict, and we all got along very well. My managers in particular were incredibly friendly and helpful, and the promotion rate from usher to management was pretty frequent. Free movies and popcorn were great, too.

Cons

The customers mostly. Lots of messy, entitled people, and of course the under 16 crowd who thought they were super clever trying to sneak into R-rated movies. Also, if you're consistently accurate with your till and cash-handling you pretty much get stuck on cashier/box office duty which is not as mobile as the usher work and more monotonous.

Pros

Easy work, generally Generally friendly crew and assistant management Generally easy to see who you are working with

Cons

General Manager has a short fuse and will raise his voice towards employees if he doesn't like how they're doing Asked me, when working closing already, to stay an extra 30 very consistently Did not always ensure assistant managers knew everything needed to assist crew members if they needed assistance, particularly with box office Many people were quitting or being fired frequently leading to general lack of consistent people Management was often busy and unable to help crew during rushes until lines reached a manageable level
