Pros
Close to lakes so I fished after shift
Cons
I thought it would be different. Some small town friendly folks to work with, but I was WRONG! Small fish is small lake. Prima Donna attitudes two or three generations working there. No chance of advancing if you didn’t grow up and attend school with them. “Super Cops”! Watching officers refuse to take action as they watch a domestic in front of them. Pretty sure department AR rifles were used to shoot gophers or squirrels or whatever. Not processing crime scenes, or collecting evidence. Biased towards the one female officer that was there. Two ladies just said the heck with it and walked out. My drive was about 35-40 minutes. Highway 8 runs through town and my time there, especially one summer weekends people speed like maniacs. No one wants to do things that needed to be done “that’s beneath me “ attitudes. It was like they just hoping a crime would happen. I talked some people who had left to go to other departments to work and they actually did work. Plus the pay is so low. Closer suburbs were paying $20-30,000 more a year so naturally some of them left for the money.
