Pros

Everyone here is incredibly intelligent

Cons

Long hours are EXPECTED - honestly, if you value weekends or evenings or some kind of life, do not apply here. You are EXPECTED to put in 65+ hours a week regularly. Poor pay. I did the math, and based on my salary and number of hours I was putting in, I was making about $7/hour - about minimum wage. Some of the SVPs are like high school students, they are catty, untrustworthy and just not pleasant to work with.

I know this review was from awhile ago but I would like to address your concerns. First of all, thank you for submitting your thoughts and I'm sorry that you felt this way about your experience with CMB. We pride ourselves on being able to provide a flexible, understanding and encouraging working environment for our employees. As a small professional services firm that works on a project basis, there are always going to be ebbs and flows in our hours worked. We expect and need all of our employees to contribute to the success of CMB on both an individual basis and, most importantly, as a team. However, being a small company, we are able to work more closely with the needs of our individual employees should any issues arise. We hope and encourage anyone that is having issues with managing their time or schedule to bring it up with his/her manager, or me in HR, so that we may address it and work with them to find a solution. I spoke to one of our current managers recently and she told me (unprompted) that the reason she has been here almost 15 years is because of the flexibility that CMB has provided her and her family and because of the opportunity to grow her career and skills. We believe that this is more of a common theme than not. -HR

Pros

- in-person atmosphere is great. We come together at least 2x a year company-wide. I think it really fosters connection and collaboration across the company. - The people here are wicked SMART. Every conversation feels like a learning experience.. - Motivated teammates make all the difference. Everyone is generally aligned on project and non-project goals, and it’s amazing how smoothly things run. The passion people have for their work makes it so much easier to get things done. - Clarity is usually provided when asked about business decisions/prof development, though at times it can feel a bit surface-level. - Pay transparency is appreciated—it's something that's required by law, but it’s nice to see it being upheld. - There's a real spirit of innovation here, with plenty of opportunities to take risks and try new things. -The company's ESOP is a significant financial benefit, and it's great to see that value being built for employees over time. Overall, I love the ownership I have in my work here, along with the recognition when it’s deserved. It’s something that’s often missing in larger companies but is a big part of what makes CMB special.

Cons

Growing pains with the new enablement of AI + HI: We're still navigating the balance, and it sometimes feels like we’re figuring it out as we go, which can be frustrating at times. Especially with tight deadlines. Longer hours to get the job done: This has been an ongoing issue since I started at CMB. There often aren’t enough resources, which leads to expectations of stretching beyond our roles to cover the gaps. It feels like we’re constantly being asked to push past our capacity, which can be overwhelming. Professional development can be unclear sometimes.

Pros

The company values show through in business practices. The value for people, quality, expertise, and doing what is right. Great benefits, work/life balance, very smart people and lots of fun!

Cons

Not unique to CMB, but like all research vendors...we are at the mercy of client needs and demands. There are fire drills, urgent requests, and deadlines. I don't think they are unreasonable as a standard course, but there are times where we are asked to push.
