Pros

Some genuinely great colleagues doing their best under immense pressure If you enjoy firefighting and high-stress environments, you’ll never be bored

Cons

Management instability: Leadership changes are constant, with no clear direction or strategy. Decision-making is erratic and reactionary. Long-term planning is nonexistent. Outdated infrastructure: Core systems run on ancient, refurbished hardware far beyond its service life. Expect daily frustration just trying to keep things running. Offshoring obsession: The company is laser-focused on reducing costs by offshoring, regardless of the negative impact on service quality, client satisfaction, and employee morale. No career growth: Zero advancement opportunities. Promotions are rare, and internal mobility is basically nonexistent. Insulting compensation: Annual bonuses are meager and capped based on years of experience, regardless of performance, providing very little incentive to overperform. On-call pay has been stagnant for years and doesn’t come close to reflecting the time and stress involved. No group RRSP despite always being raised in employee feedback. Bonus payout has been delayed two years in a row. Toxic HR culture: HR operates in a bubble of forced positivity, ignoring real issues and offering no real support. Concerns are met with platitudes rather than solutions. Unpaid expectations: Staff are regularly expected to work after hours or weekends with no overtime pay, just vague offers of time in lieu, which is not formalized in any policy. Burnout culture: The environment is high-pressure and reactive. Employees are constantly firefighting due to poor planning and unrealistic expectations.

Pros

Great people, including the massive numbers who have left. Those that remain generally underqualified and represent they have skills they do not possess.

Cons

Horrible infighting and a culture of stealing valor. Treat highly talented people with immense experience with disrespect and fail to understand their skills. Top-down approach.
