Pros

One of the best paying entry level jobs in the New River Valley No experience required Useful experience and certifications Evening shift captain is excellent

Cons

Best paying in NRV isn't saying a lot, and it's actually one of the lowest paid armed security jobs Management made schedule decisions that were almost unanimously declined by the guard force Rules and enforcement seems to change based on how staffed they are Work conditions are often bad Guaranteed exposure to asbestos, lead paint, and ammunition manufacturing chemicals Union sides with management most of the time and is practically useless You will probably be drafted into a 16 hour shift at least once a week, if not multiple times PPO plan is $700 a month and the cheapest might be $600, and the only company contribution is the H&W bonus, which is the only thing that makes the pay worthwhile Rampant gossip LGBTQ+ be advised the work environment is 'inclusive' but you will encounter some level of disrespect at some point

Pros

The company allowed each individual contract to run itself. Contract security is notoriously unprofessional, ill-equipped, and untrained. At our site, we were able to influence positive change toward a professional team capability.

Cons

With contract security, the client often has unqualified people as the contract liaison, Everything is about saving money, and checking the box in regards to CLAIMING to have appropriate security, but not at all in ensuring it exists.
