Pros

Free meals help offset the min. wage. Great if you're a young college student from a privileged family and you don't actually 'need' a job.

Cons

Boss is mentally ill and has a temper. There is a lot of drama and gossip and it feels like high school. Servers are paid minimum wage, yet they are expected to go above and beyond to keep wealthy residents happy. There is not much to gain from this job for you (the worker) and your'e always under pressure to be perfect. There are workers who are treated with less respect by other workers and overall it's a very depressing work environment.

Pros

They really believe in supporting and investing in their employees. I couldn't imagine working anywhere else!

Cons

Nothing that stands out. All departments work well with each other!

Pros

The residents are incredible people who have incredibly complex stories. You grow attached to them as you work with them and they grow attached to you. I loved serving them every day. As well as the residents your coworkers will quickly become your best friends. The hardest part of leaving was leaving behind the relationships if formed with my coworkers and the residents.

Cons

After many complaints from within our department and from outside the department nothing was done. People were fired or forced out for almost nothing yet when the departnent threw things and yelled profanities at us nothing was done. Compliments from residents were spun to be complaints. There is no chance of advancement even with hard work. Management doesn't care about minimum wage employees and a manager said "everyone is replaceable in 2 minutes." Turnover is 500% in the dining services and the pay isn't enough to take verbal abuse. Servers will always take the blame and never management. Don't be surprised if you're chosen as a target and when you complain don't be surprised when nothing is done. My advice is to apply somewhere else. No one deserves to be treated as less than human every time they work.
