Pros
Very strong engineering culture - Carbon is able to attract the best of the best engineering talent. The company's product potential amazing - the distant future state of the platform is truly game changing. Carbon allows for hybrid workplace and has above average benefits.
Cons
Unfortunately the negatives at Carbon seriously outweigh the positives. Product: the company has put too much emphasis on the foam replacement business. I don't think this business unit has ever met quota once, and the company is absolutely hamstrung by a restrictive contract with a very large customer that is continuing to reduce their order size. Every dollar invested in this business unit is a dollar not invested in dental/health sciences, where Carbon has PMF and sees growth in-line with high-growth tech companies. Leadership: While they are nice people, the quality of leadership is poor. - One of the Co-CEOs is the founder's son (and has never worked at any other company), the other is the CTO. Combined, they have a total of zero years CEO experience. - The entire C-Suite has turned over in the last calendar year, including a CFO that left for a company that doesn't generate revenue. - Carbon overhired during the COVID cash boom, and leaders responsible for the overhiring all disappeared before layoffs were necessary. I'm bearish on this company and the probability that they go public any time in the next 2-3 years is very low.
