Pros

In hindsight nothing at all

Cons

They force distribution, you may be a great performer but if you aren't one of their favorites then the "bar is always shifting". Upper management who likes to refer themselves as leadership is extremely incompetent, they will throw you under the bus for their mistakes, not to mention they have their favorites, I remember having a PA in our org who was applauded & promoted for creating a reusable one stream consumer, which is an out of the box functionality. Upper management will almost certainly target the new hire because they were hired with the intension to fire i.e. to meet the quota of below-strong 12%-15%. 360-reviews & feedbacks are totally meaningless, and are totally skewed & twisted during reviews and do not reflect the truth. I worked with my manager for more than a year and delivered on a major transformation project, but just before the year end performance cycle I was asked to report to a peer (Red Flag). My previous manager did not endorse the good work that I had done and I was let go to meet the quota.

Pros

Some of the smartest individuals in their fields. The focus is always “forward” and the company is willing to adopt new tech to stay ahead for the purposes of the company’s (key word there) benefit. Great PTO and benefits.

Cons

The company’s drive to keep itself moving forward has caused it to regress in other aspects. As a leading tech company first, and leading bank second, it’s embarrassing what their stance is on hybrid and remote work. The company can easily accommodate remote options for their employees not near main offices, but chooses not to. I am relocating to a major city with no major CapOne presence and their response was “too bad, either fly up weekly or you’ll be terminated for not meeting the hybrid requirements”. It’s embarrassing because most of my week is remote anyways. I wonder how many current and past employees have been impacted, and I’m worried about how much talent they’ll be pushing away in the coming years.
