Pros
Some of the smartest, kindest people that I've ever worked with. Everybody is super down to earth, came from really impressive backgrounds, and is willing to help and grow each other. Caffeine is also well-known in Silicon Valley for being backed by an impressive group of investors.
Cons
Where do I even start? Let's start with the decision-making. Everything needs to be run through and vetted through the CEO, down to the very micro-level decisions. The team spends most of their time debating whether or not he "feels good" about something or whether something "feels right" to him or not. If he doesn't like it, too bad. It's either his way or the highway. Look at past executives who have been at Caffeine and you'll notice that their tenure is <1 year. Coincidence? Everybody who's ever disagreed with him has gotten fired. The all-hands are a complete joke - you can tell everybody else is dead inside and distrustful of the entire leadership team. Onto the rest of the leadership team. The executive team doesn't actually act like executives, they are more or less messenger boys for the CEO that parrots what he says back down to the common-folk (i.e. the rest of the IC's). You can expect little autonomy and ownership here - just expect to be told what to do and treated like dirt. Most of the executives have literally no experience or expertise in their backgrounds (aside from the marketing team). Have constructive feedback? Expect to have the leadership team just completely ignore what you say and stab you behind the back. You can also expect a heavy amount of micromanagement, and constantly change things because of things that the CEO says. There's been multiple generations of turnover due to massive crunch and overtime for "big bang" releases. More than 80% of the engineering team is gone and has resulted in Caffeine hiring nearly all contractors. Just take a look at anybody who has worked at Caffeine and notice the extremely high turnover rate. Be aware. Stay as far away from this company as possible - if you're actually a good engineer, you can find a company that pays way more and has better benefits/opportunities. You've been warned.
