Pros

Decent pay, but no raise in 3+ years - even through being "essential" during Covid .

Cons

They have an awful point/ attendance policy. Left in motels away from family days on end. Personal days can not be taken when needed Work 95% of all holidays without holiday pay. We go by a board system that should tell us about when we may be called but crew management puts BS times & train schedules in there that we can never judge on how or when we may be called out. Working exhausted - always! They used to have rules that would allow you to mark off due to weather related incident - your town can make an alert that no one is to be on the road & they still tell you to drive on in. You get one set day a week off... It maybe scheduled for Monday but you probably wont get it till Wednesday. Work / life balance is non-existent. Officials wait & hide in bushes to see if you mess up, they also fly night vision drones to watch you, along with Inward facing cameras on the engines to watch what you do on the engines You get placed in bed bug infested hotels. A good % of Crew management doesn't do their job effectively & talks down to crews. You are responsible for the short comings of the other person on the engines. They screw up You're fired too. Don't worry you will always have the work excuse to miss every activity that your children are in, every wedding you're invited to & the funeral of your wife's grandmother bc that's is NoT your immediate family. Get ready to ruin your family life if you don't have a strong backbone together! If you're single, don't have much family to speak of, this is the job for you!

Pros

Simple business model which is dependent on customer service.

Cons

Board is run by an Activist Investor. Company officers for the past 10 year have been bleeding off company assets and reducing operational capabilities in exchange for short term valuations. Many of these senior leaders were brought in with documented history of sexual misconduct and questionable corporate ethics. Their only qualification they need is that they were former managers under the Hunter Harrison regime at Canadian National.
