Pros

I like the change of places to work. I could be going down to jersey one day, out to boston the next. Every trip, train, engineer, day, and trainee is different. I like being a conductor. Its a good job, always a change of pace. Its a great way to make money. Benefits are awesome and good retirement.

Cons

While in the training program for Conductor and engineer we were told by upper level management (System Road Foreman) that there are pay problems.Trainees don't get paid for weeks at a time. Its a known problem in CSX. You can complete everything on your end of submitting your pay and making sure its correct and still your pay would be messed up. I was helping people to fix there pay, because the managers don't know how. And still I didn't get paid because my salary because of how horrible there system is. After not being paid for 3 weeks and complaining to management multiple times about the problem I finally quit CSX and found another job. I was there for 3 years.

Pros

Simple business model which is dependent on customer service.

Cons

Board is run by an Activist Investor. Company officers for the past 10 year have been bleeding off company assets and reducing operational capabilities in exchange for short term valuations. Many of these senior leaders were brought in with documented history of sexual misconduct and questionable corporate ethics. Their only qualification they need is that they were former managers under the Hunter Harrison regime at Canadian National.
