Pros
Genuine pension plan! I don't know how it compares to other companies that have pension plans, but if I stay for 5 years, I can expect about 12% of my salary in retirement. We have some top-notch people.
Cons
To be fair, our office is small, and opportunities for government contractors are shrinking in this locality. Nevertheless, local management is not very involved, and distant management shows no interest whatever in this office. I don't feel like a part of a large company, rather just a vehicle for sending money to HQ. Paltry vacation allowance (2 weeks for first 4 years), very out of step with Silicon Valley. No education benefit unless you're in a degree program - they must think their online courses are adequate. No pay bonuses worth speaking of. If contracts don't come through on time, they would rather furlough employees than let them do training on company time. Matching contributions to 401K don't amount to much (seems to be max $1500) and there's a 4 or 5 year vesting period; however, we do have a pension plan.
