Competitive salary, fun team, less stiff than a big company - Front End Developer CONFORMiT Employee Review

Pros

No negotiating nonsense. There's a fair compensation calculation formula, and how good you are at threatening to go away doesn't make you get paid better. Work is organized and planned. There's a lot less stress compared to something more free-form. Despite the above, there's a fair amount of freedom and openness to suggestions.

Cons

Some things are a bit stiffer than I'd like. For instance, you can't roll your vacation days forward to the next year at all.

Pros

Not quite large enough that it's a big empty husk of a company Employees get partial ownership so when they inevitably sell out, at least you get a bit of money out of it You can pick your weekly hours

Cons

Salary keeps getting worse vs inflation No sick leave beyond legal minimum Not much vacation time unless you're ancient Development priorities are chaotic. Behaviour of managers is a mystery Hiring decisions made on unfathomae logic. The best talent flees Management sometimes pushes toxic hustle culture

Pros

Great benefits Employee-stockholder coop is good for saving taxes and gives hope for profit if the company is ever sold Cordial relationships with colleagues Code review and development process in general pretty solid

Cons

Absolute chaos between the sales, PO and design teams, which occasionally leads to consequences like overbearing crunch times or unacceptable compromises. Coordination with overseas colleagues is difficult due to time lag. Growth is stated as an explicit goal. We have people in key roles overworking themselves, doing the work of 3 people each, unable to recruit help for them. And yet we keep selling; we keep hiring more developers; we keep growing. If those overworked colleagues break, catastrophe will ensue. You get a total of 4 sick/personal days. Pray you don't catch more than 1 cold in a year. Often feels like a thankless job.
