Pros
I enjoyed the people I worked with, and the work I did. This was the best company I ever worked for in my forty plus years of work experience.
Cons
The economy went bad and they hired a new general manager for our business unit. He hardly knew me or my capabilities. He just wanted to cut overhead, which meant cutting people. So most of my work was outsourced and I became redundant. I understood why this happened, but it still hurt. I listened in on the CEO's town meeting for employees, and heard him promise that there would be no layoffs. They just weren't going to replace some people if they quit. Oh well, I was just a small cog in a 12,000 employee wheel. At one point I was almost indispensable but as soon as they were better established in our area and my skills weren't quite as crucial, I was gone. I wasn't offered any other chances in the company.
