Pros

There are some good, intelligent people working within the company. Good work/life balance. Share Purchase Plan. Incredible IP from CGI global, just lacks awareness and expertise in Australian BU.

Cons

As mentioned in previous reviews CGI Australia used to be great, but since the acquisition of Logica it's really gone backwards in a big way. Used to feel as though you had a future in the company and were made to believe that you could work your way up, not so much anymore, you're just an anonymous 'member' at the very bottom of the pile (of 70k+ workers globally!) No work. Great people sitting on the bench for way too long and as a consequence the office culture is very negative. People thrown at work that is not their area of expertise just to get them off the bench and billable. Possibly the worst HR and finance systems I've seen anywhere - no one knows how to use any of them and no one knows who to ask for help on them. Too many emails on changes of processes are very confusing - who knows what staff are actually required to do, it will be different next week. Staff have actually undertaken activities to setup their own processes due to lack of direction from management. Aging laptops given to staff are hardly sufficient to undertake their work. Take a day of personal leave and the whole of the Australian business unit is made aware of it - public shaming, The Delorean sick leave system has gone back in time to the 50's. Office network speeds aren't great. No career path - there is no difference between a consultant, lead consultant, senior consultant, they're just names. Management operating like Mick Gatto.

Pros

no specific positives to highlight from my perspective

Cons

I worked at CGI in both India and the USA and observed similar workplace culture concerns across both locations. The only real difference was HR—India HR felt more supportive, while my experience with USA HR was disappointing. My employment ended shortly after maternity leave due to an alleged “lack of projects,” which I experienced as a layoff. I also observed what appeared to be misuse of position by some leaders, including blurred professional boundaries, preferential treatment, and expectations that went beyond normal workplace roles—at times resembling personal-assistant-style demands rather than professional conduct. Surprisingly, I also noticed inconsistent “policies” applied differently to different individuals. In some cases, it felt like the rules changed depending on who you were. When leadership became aware that someone was related to another employee in the organization, it sometimes felt like that person was singled out or targeted rather than treated objectively. Overall, these practices—whether through inconsistent treatment, perceived power misuse, or favoritism—undermine trust, damage workplace culture, and raise serious concerns about fairness and professionalism.
