Pros

As a recent college grad, I was able to learn so much about evidence-based treatment and gain valuable exposure to a real-world clinical setting from the highly skilled and intelligent clinicians of CBT/DBT Associates before I pursued clinical psychology in my higher education. The team at CBT/DBT is nothing but kind and supportive of one another. Everyone was wonderful to work with and I enjoyed the collaborative environment that was fostered here. Within this collaborative environment naturally comes open communication as well. Everyone is very respectful towards one another and values the thoughts and ideas of others, which is something that I really appreciated. There was also a swift and commendable response to the pandemic with a smooth transition to remote work to prioritize the health and safety of all employees and clients. Overall, I had a great experience here and, most importantly, I feel prepared for the next steps in my career as a result of my time here.

Cons

I genuinely do not have any cons to share about my experience here. The whole team was incredible to work with and it was a really supportive working environment.

Pros

One of the main reasons I took my position at CBT/DBT (and a big part of why I’ve stayed) was the warm, friendly, collegial team. We truly have an open-door policy, and I love how easy it is to consult throughout the day about clients as well as connect on a social level in my spare moments. As a newly licensed psychologist, the transition to no longer being supervised felt seamless, as I could still easily consult with the director and my colleagues. A huge benefit of the postdoctoral fellowship is that it most often turns into a staff position if desired. I feel lucky to be a part of a team that is dedicated to evidence-based practice and feel intellectually stimulated by conversations in our team meetings. Ongoing training is supported and encouraged, and I have received partial financial support and extra days off for an outside training I wanted to attend. There are opportunities to build new programs, such as new therapy groups or aspects of the training program. When I presented such ideas to the director, they were met with enthusiasm and support, and I have been given autonomy in implementing them. The practice offers flexibility in scheduling, including how you structure your days and number of days per week.
