- flexible work environment - great opportunity for growth (the organization is constantly growing and changing, so there is plenty of opportunity to shape the department you work in - they love new ideas and are open to letting people run with things. You can also move your job description and duties towards the things that interest you, which was something I valued early in my career - genuine interest by management in the success and growth of staff who demonstrate keen interest - opportunity to meet some of the highest-level policy and business leaders in Canada - real opportunity to build your knowledge of public policy in a meaningful way, and to genuinely participate in shaping Canada's policy future - As a woman I felt empowered by being given the opportunity to meet and liaise with women business and policy leaders, and management supported and encouraged this - world class benefits and maternity leave policy (I only learned to appreciate this after I left, but the mat leave policy when I left was 100% top up for a full year)

- Starting salary is low (but can jump quickly if you demonstrate your value to the organization) - large pay gap between top earners and bottom earners - Would like to see improved diversity in new hires

1) Working at a non-profit, you often have to work with limited resources. As the Institute continues to grow, this can sometimes mean doing more with less. 2) With the Institute growing at such a rapid pace over the past few years (number of staff have almost doubled over the course of my time at the Institute), there have been some growing pains, but these have been/ are being addressed by management.
