Sales people would make promises to customers about what the product could do and not realize that the program was unable to do it, so specialists were required to do mass data entry to cover up their mistakes. Mid level management was more concerned about pushing their employees rather than figuring out the most efficient - and they would rather have a single employee work overtime than hire a second one to reduce the burden and allow them to take vacation.
