Pros

After having worked exclusively for Fortune 100 companies in my career, Brooks' culture is a breath of fresh air. At least on the Semiconductor side--we have clarity of purpose, a GM who is fanatically customer-centric, and relatively few levels for decision-making (travel approvals, hiring, capital expenditures, etc.). The company is very close to its customers which is also forcing us to continually get better on product quality and not accept mediocrity. Very accommodating on time off and occasional flexible work arrangements, and great PPO health plan.

Cons

Still weak on process in a number of areas. Also, employees seldom step up and take the lead without being pushed by a manager. Well-connected to direct customers but less so with end users.

Pros

Brooks operates in a genuinely interesting sector with strong technical capabilities and some highly capable people. There are teams doing good work, and the company has real potential with the right CEO.

Cons

However, the overall experience is shaped by ongoing layoffs and a consistently volatile environment. Frequent restructuring and shifting priorities make it difficult to build momentum or see initiatives through to completion. There is a constant sense of change without enough stability to support it. This creates uncertainty for employees and impacts morale, engagement, and long-term focus. It is challenging to operate effectively when the direction can shift quickly, and role security feels unclear. In summary, an interesting company in an important industry, but one where greater stability and clearer direction would significantly improve the employee experience.
